MS COFFEE AND CREAM'S INSTAPARTY

Last night at 10pm I was eating chocolate cake, watching Blue Jasmine and throwing a small pity party for myself. I had just been rejected from a design role I REALLY wanted at a top tech company. The whole month of December I had been spending everyday including Christmas Day practicing design challenges and training my mind. I even drove my husband slightly crazy and every day he asked me to stop talking about design. Long story short, I made it through a couple rounds but got rejected. We all have to deal with rejection, and I think it’s really healthy to have a pity party and allow yourself to feel those sad emotions. But after that you need to congratulate yourself and realize that rejection leads to learning and deep growth and give yourself that hug for getting out of your comfort zone!! I gained so much knowledge and education from this interview process, and it’s important that to focus on looking at rejection as an opportunity for reaching your full potential. I also learned that I have amazing wonderful people in my life that have mentored me along my journey, and I am so so grateful that they give their time, effort and love to making me a better person! What is your holiday fantasy?? For me it’s been checking into the @wynnlasvegas , taking long baths, jumping on the big fluffy bed, and snuggling up to lots of cheesey Lifetime Christmas romance movies! Taking a vacation and breaking your routine is one of the best ways to tap back into your creativity and happiness! To be honest I’ve been pretty stressed out getting my Product Design portfolio ready, applying to jobs, and just generally feeling drained by all the intense focus it takes to be so logical and so “ON” in a totally new world (the world of tech is just so different from my natural state of mind). This stress has really created a block in my natural creativity and sense of expression, which is why you haven’t heard much from me. But that’s about to change!! I finally hear my creative essence calling me to shoot some photos! Although life has its ups and downs, your creativity is always with you! Ever since my mother bought me my first DvF dress (for prom!) and I have been captivated by the meaning behind her designs and how she has faced so many challenges with confidence and strength. When I was going through a particularly difficult time I used to go on long runs and listen to her book “The Woman I Wanted to Be.” I highly recommend it for anyone taking the road less traveled in life!! This shot is one of my favorites and I’m wearing a little crop top by Diane that reminds me of my favorite place in the world...Maui! I’ve missed you all so much!!!!! The past month has been a whirlwind since I’ve been transition to Product Design and cramming my brain full of challenges, but I have truly missed you all my dear friends! What have you been up to??? Have you recently discovered something new about yourself that you LOVE?? I never thought I was patient or detailed enough to puzzle over pixels allll day, but it turns out it can be quite a fun challenge, even when I feel like I’m just swimming upstream in circles and circles. My dear friend and fellow UX designer Valentina @vcalvache wrote me the most inspiring letter yesterday, about facing challenges and still loving yourself, and I wanted to share her valuable words of wisdom with you: “Let’s be infinite and courageous, for we have nothing to lose. In a world where we are often told to be sad and powerless, let’s shine and go wherever we want, because our moment here on earth is just one, and we are from beyond the limits of the earth.
